Road to Hana Hiking and Waterfall Tour
The Hana Highway is one of the most notable drives in the world which connects to the Pi’ilani hwy on the leeward side of Haleakala. Haleakala stretches to a height of 10,023 feet above sea level. With pristine blue ocean on one side (the makai side) and deep foliage or vast volanic plains on the other (mauka side), the highway crosses more than 50 one-lane bridges and winds around the magnificent ocean cliffs which guide even the car-sick prone traveler into a state of sheer bliss.
This trip takes adventure to another level and is more about the journey to and from Hana, then Hana Town itself! Your naturalist will guide you through pre-contact Hawaii, days of the Pi’ilani ohana, king Kamehameha, Captain Cook, and post western-contact ramifications. You will see how old Hawaii still exists today as a blend of ancient Hawaiian and Polynesian traditions with modern western culture.
There are numerous stops throughout your day including but not limited to, an optional short wake-up hike through a vast bamboo forest to numerous waterfalls, rainbow eucalyptus trees, optional swimming holes, waterfalls, hawaiian taro farm views, local vegan ice cream, banana bread and coconut candy (not to mention noni juice sampling), lava tubes, heiaus, green sand, black sand, red sand beaches, and fresh water caves. For the more extreme sport enthusiasts, you will have the option of some cliff jumping from 3-30 feet!!Return to the couple's registry.
